Sir:
Now that the smoke of battle has cleared up, and though we are still in the dark as to the National result no reliable news having come to us on the Reserve, yet allow me to say that our little precinct Toledo, went republican by four (4) majority. In June last when the state went owerwhelmingly republican, this election district was Democratic by six (6) majority.
On the morning of the 2d inst I sent our team down with all who was entitled to a vote save one (he being some hundred miles
distant.) five employes casting their ballots for Genl Garfield. The day was the very worst of the season, the wind blowing a gale and the rain falling in torrents the entire day and night, but our men started out willingly and will feel well paid if the result is on the right side, hoping and trusting it will be, I am
Very Respectfully
