Office Supt Ind Affairs
Oregon City Nov 11th 1856
Sir
The Steamer has just arrived bringing Eighty Five Indians from Port Orford in charge of Special Agent Wm Techinor These are a part of the Indians left in that country by Gen. Palmer, and they have been brought up in route for the Reservation as it is found impossible to retain them in Port Orford neighbourhood and avoid constant trouble The expense will be heavy but it is thought the object justifies it
Respectfully
Your Obdt Servt
